Project Synopsis
The PHX excess food redistribution project aims to create an informational packet that can be given to food stakeholders (i.e nonprofits, food banks, food manufacturers, and food distributors) to redirect the wastage of good, edible food from the private sector to nonprofits, allowing for the increase in capacity to serve communities in need.
Project Timeline
April - May 2026 • Draft Official Project Proposal, Project Pitch Presentation
May - August 2026 • Reach out to Stakeholders in the Valley and Forge Connections
August - October 2026 • Conduct Stakeholder Interviews, Roundtable Discussions Regarding the Social Issue, and Info Packet
October - December 2026 • Finalize First Draft of the Info Packet
Informational Packet Synopsis
Through research conducted through the Next Generation Service Corps at Arizona State University, we have found 4 categories that the informational packet will focus on:
Donation Liability Protection Laws
Arizona State Tax Credits and Deductions for Donations
Date-Labeling Practices
Best Practices - Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Donation Quantification, Effective Communication Practices, and Understanding Logistical Constraints
To Potential Partners
If you are a nonprofit, foodbank, or company that is involved in the greater PHX food network, we encourage you to look at the project pitch presentation, followed by the detailed project proposal, and tell us if you are interested in joining the mission to redirect excess food waste! Both will be released by August 2026. Contact us anytime at contact@intercityservice.org.
Thank you to Peyton Pierce, Maria Reyes, Casey Soong, Natalie Hennigh, and Dr. Paul Bentley, Assistant Teaching Professor of the Watts College School of Public Service at Arizona State University, for their contribution, development, feedback, and continued support for this project.
